This position is located in Calgary. The Civil Design Engineer / Technologist will report to a Civil Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for supporting design for infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan. The Geoscience & Infrastructure team is part of the Engineering, Design, and Project Management (EDPM) division of SNC-Lavalin Inc. within Canada. How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Comply with corporate policies and safety protocols and identification of general safety, and HSE requirements
Provide design services and technical support in Transportation, Municipal, Highway, and Traffic Planning
Acting as a civil designer for a variety of projects and clients
Aids in the production of engineering documents such as, drawings using CADD Civil 3D, technical or design reports, cost estimates, tender package documents, and construction specifications
Prepare proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts and obtaining approvals
May perform as either design field engineer/technologist or as the clients’ field engineer /technologist representative and be responsible for Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) supervision on Civil projects
Potential field work opportunities using RTK survey equipment and Drones to conduct preliminary survey for design
What will you contribute?
University degree in a related discipline (Civil Engineering or Environmental Systems Engineering) or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience in the consulting sector, specifically Transportation
Registration or eligible to be registered with APEGS or SASTT
Excellent communication (written and oral), prioritization and organization skills
Detail oriented with the ability to balance a diverse and changing workload
Experience working with CADD Civil 3D and/or Microstation
Experience with intersection design, functional planning, and/or geometric design
Knowledge and experience designing based on Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways standards would be considered an asset
Knowledge of T.A.C (Transportation Association of Canada) standards would be considered an asset
Experience in roadway surfacing design would be considered an asset
Roadway construction experience would be considered an asset
Valid driver’s license
