Country Security Manager

The role and function of the CSM is to ensure that specialist and expert advice is provided for the protection of all employees and physical assets (digital and physical) in USA, serving as an adviser for various Crisis Management Teams (CMT) throughout the USA and in planning and preparing, and anticipating for crisis and contingencies. The company is diverse and decentralized in many locations. The CSM is required to establish and maintain partnerships with many business officials from all Sectors and Corporate functions to forge consensus and encourage cooperation, participation and cohesion within all cross-sector discipline for emergency and security management purposes.

This position is based out of our office in San Diego, CA and reports to our RSD AMERICAS, Global Security.

What will you contribute?

  • Supervise, lead, and advise any project security manager/advisor within the area of responsibility.
  • Identify and promptly act on all security vulnerabilities, threats and risks relating to the company and outline risk mitigation measures and their associated costs which could have an impact on people, information, assets and infrastructure.
  • Oversee, within the USA, the day to day operations of security policies and strategies in order to mitigate security risks, maintain business resiliency and continuity of services, safeguard the company and its employees and be an advocate for their adoption.
  • Collect and disseminate intelligence that could have an impact on company personnel and\or operations and disseminate in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the implementation of the business resilience and recovery programme, in response to threats and risks confronting SNC-Lavalin in order to ensure that they are appropriately managed at all levels of the company.
  • Ensures that projects and offices in USA have the appropriate security plans. Also, lead the assessment of those plans and provide constructive feedback.
  • Proactively monitor and react to emerging threats and provide support the business to ensure the flexibility to respond to emergency situations or those which arise without warning.
  • Evaluate and monitor the security standards of any client that the company may perform projects for.
  • Conduct and/or assist major investigations of security in support of company integrity standards or governance breaches.
  • Ethics and Compliance responsibilities:
    • Comply with the law, policies and standards.
    • Ensure employees and contractors to report compliance incidents; and
    • Actively encourage, mentor, coach and supervise employees and contractors to promote integrity and compliant behaviour.
  • Promote amongst peers and team members the SNC-Lavalin Code of Ethics and Business Conduct as well as set an exemplary example for others to follow.
  • Conduct Security Site Assessment Visits (SAV) at any location within the USA by properly assessing vulnerabilities, threats and risks and provide observations and recommendations to sector and business leaders are required.
  • When directed to do so, assume the duties and responsibilities of the GS Duty Officer (24/7) on a rotational period and as prescribed by GS operational instructions as applicable.
  • Make effective use of all software and technologies to support GS’s mandate, and the Travel Security Program.
  • Act proactively by ensuring that all business travellers within the USA are provided with security briefings and are provided by proper security advice and mitigation measures for those travelling in high and extreme risk countries.
  • Ensure that Country Security Briefings (CSB) are prepared, updated and published in support of the Travel Security Program.
  • Assist the sectors and business units on proposals and bids in order to ensure that all security components are properly identified and recorded prior to bid submission by the company.
  • Plan, develop and prepare security operations for special events such as the, Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings, and any other special and/or relevant corporate or company event where security is required before, during and after any event.
  • Perform any other security related duties and functions as directed by the SVP GS.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 15 to 20 years of international, military, police, corporate security and physical protection experience in leadership positions, two (2) of which must have been in the commercial sector.

If required, must be capable of attaining a Secret Level II security clearance and a NATO Secret level security clearance.
