Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin group, provides expert consultancy that covers the full project lifecycle. Our Transport Planning practice is home to some 300 people including planners, economists, engineers, communications specialists, modellers and mathematicians. We help identify and develop optimum transport solutions in response to transport challenges that create opportunities for investment and sustainable economic growth shaping the future of transport infrastructure.

Strategy 

In Strategy we provide consultancy advice to public sector clients at the early stage of the planning lifecycle; working with clients to shape their objectives, problem solve, identify and shortlist policy, service and infrastructure interventions.

Transport Modelling

Our Transport modellers undertake detail assessment for the future transport systems at both strategic and micro simulation scales to inform decision making regarding new transport schemes.

We provide Economics and Business Case expertise covering all areas of economic analysis, wider appraisal and development of business cases for transport investment, delivery and operation.

Cities

Our Cities discipline covers development planning, the assessment of public realm, space planning and sustainable access strategies, making use of innovative technologies such as the Atkins virtual street design tool. 

The Team IN BRISTOL

The Bristol Transport Planning is home to 30 colleagues who come from a range of diverse backgrounds and span all career stages. We have a strong presence on regional projects under Local Authority Frameworks, such as the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire Frameworks, as well as on nationally-significant transport schemes across a number of disciplines. This variety allows us to work on schemes under our areas of interest/expertise, whilst also getting the chance to challenge ourselves both professionally and personally.


Bristol Transport Planning are a team that champion career development and progression, and flexible working, with many of us working hours that suit our lifestyles. Our modern, showcase office (The Hub) has a range of facilities, including; free bus services for employees, secure cycling facilities, parking spaces, a coffee shop and a canteen. The Hub is also based in an readily accessible location for not only the south west, but Wales, the Midlands, and beyond.
