Your role

As a Graduate Software & Digital Engineer, you'll play an important role, delivering software on a variety of exciting projects in the UK and abroad. Get involved in projects across Airports, Nuclear & Power, Aerospace, Defence, Energy, Environment & Geoscience, Transportation and Water. You could be developing facial recognition, verifying nuclear power plants' safety shutdown systems, and supporting teams with digital transformation. While you develop your interests and capabilities, we'll make sure you have all the support to achieve your Chartership.
Where could you work

As a graduate, you could find yourself in one of the following business areas:

Aerospace, Defence, Security & Technology (ADS&T)

Degree Requirements: Minimum 2:1 Bachelors or above in: Computer Science, Maths, Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering, Physics, IT, Software Engineering, Control & Systems Engineering, Information Technology & Communications

ADS&T is the team that works across mission-critical industries. We maintain our defence sector's resilience, transform aerospace, and keep transport systems running safely. You’ll join as a Graduate Engineer and be involved in software development, testing and software verification across many different projects using programming in C#. We want you to work in the fields and specialist areas that excite you. Some of these might include High-integrity and Safety-critical software and Information security. 

Working in the fields of Identity Assurance/Information security, Geospatial information System (GIS), software development of data intensive applications, Industrial Automation and Control Systems, Software Assurance, and bespoke critical Software Development.  Our services include the provision of independent technical advice to Customers, the supply of commercial off the shelf software combined with support and custom application training, the development of custom applications using a blend of Microsoft development tools, 3rd party API’s and industry leading databases, and the supply and maintenance of our product portfolio.

Locations for this business will include London and South East, South West;
Bristol, Aldershot, Epsom

Nuclear and Power

Degree Requirements: Minimum 2.2 Master’s/MEng degree in Maths, Computer Science, Physics, IT, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Geography, GIS, Geospatial, App Development, Information Technology & Communications, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Control & Systems Engineering, or equivalent.

As a Graduate Software & Digital Engineer you will support the development of and deliver innovative digital solutions across the full project lifecycle in line with our four digital pillars: reality capture, design, site delivery and asset management. Our teams work closely with our clients to offer and develop these solutions across many challenging projects with these solutions ranging from mechatronics and robotics to coding and  software development, as well as generating visualisations with immersive media support such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Our teams work closely with our clients to offer and develop digital and technology solutions across many challenging projects. These solutions could require mechatronics and robotics, coding, software development, visualisations and immersive media support such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Our locations include most major disciplines and with them, as a placement student, you will be involved in developing innovative and practical solutions for our clients across the UK and further afield. You will work with our project and technical leads as well as our clients to capture their requirements as well as working with colleagues across the Atkins group to develop proposals for new work.

You will support the development of and deliver innovative digital solutions across the full project lifecycle in line with our four digital pillars: reality capture, design, site delivery and asset management. Seeing you work with business leaders as well as lead teams in the delivery of tasks as required ensuring they are delivered to time and quality.

Your team will help you continuously improve and develop your skills, learn new things and keep up to date with the latest developments in the industry.
