Position Summary :
SNC-Lavalin is seeking an accomplished Communications Director to support one of its Ottawa-based assets. The Director of Communications is based in Ottawa, Ontario and reports to the Vice-President Communications, Projects and Assets, based in Montreal, Quebec. In this special assignment for this Ottawa asset, the Director will report to the CEO of the Rideau Transit Group (RTG). The successful candidate will be a key resource to help lead high-calibre strategic communications for this asset. The candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing communications strategies and initiatives and supporting communications initiatives as part of our global team of communicators.
Summary of Key Responsibilities :
- In collaboration with the client, develop strategic media relations plans, programs and initiatives;
- Plan, write, budget and implement communication plans (internal and external) for assets, including media protocols and crisis communication;
- Provides leadership and mentoring to a high-calibre management team;
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with communications contracts;
- Planning and implementation of high-level events or activities;
- Support partners in communications initiatives related to this asset;
- Oversee and execute the development of brand related materials;
- Oversee and execute the development of multimedia and digital communications, including website, portal, videos, newsletters and social media accounts;
- Prepares talking points, speeches, presentations and other support materials as required;
- Serves as a point of contact for media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization and the client, and actively cultivates and manages media relations to ensure coverage of issues of strategic importance to the asset;
- Manage relationships with suppliers or consultants related to communications.
Qualifications:
- Must have a university degree in communications or public relations.
- Must have over 8 years of proven expertise in media relations and stakeholder management for large and important infrastructure projects or equivalent complex environment.
- Must have exceptional leadership skills and proven abilities not only as a strategic communicator, but also as a team player.
- Must have superior planning, writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail and practical experience.
- Must be highly organized with the demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities on time and within budget.
- Must have superior experience in issues management and media relations at the government, stakeholder and public relations levels.
- This is a key position and the candidate must be available for emergency and crisis management.
