Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Rail & Transit Intermodal group as a Deputy Construction Manager in Federal Way, Washington.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Reporting to the Resident Engineer, the Deputy Construction Manager will coordinate the requirements of the construction leads for the various project elements. Under direction, provides guidance in all conventional and unconventional aspects of construction engineering to manage project construction observation and documentation activities, monitoring contractors' substantial compliance with contract, plans, specifications and special provisions and determining project quality, cost, and adherence to established completion schedule.


JOB DUTIES

Working in an integrated team, the Deputy Construction Manager shall:
  • Coordinate with the Sound Transit staff, the JV staff and subcontractors in site collocated with the Design build Contractor.
  • Performs non-manual field work that involves a combination of conventional and complex features, requiring the application of sound and diversified professional knowledge in board areas of assignments, usually including the coordination of various project.
  • Provides financial management of construction office operations, monitoring costs and expenses, approving and dispersing funds, and coordinating accounting and cost allocation.
  • Leads subordinate internal staff involved in the observation, testing and sampling of construction materials, observation of construction work, and documentation of plan revisions and work progress.
  • Is responsible for reporting cost and quality control activities.
  • Meets and coordinates ongoing construction monitoring with client program manager.
  • Prepares and coordinates contract changes and supplemental agreements with client.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Fifteen years of experience with Bachelor's degree combining engineering design and construction observation administration, and including management and supervision of field and office personnel. Twenty five years experience without degree.


SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Proven skills in leadership, organization, management, and oral & written communications. Persuasive ability and public speaking skills.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • Professional Registration is required.
