Join us as a Senior Decision Scientist in Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology (ADS&T). You'll lead teams that use quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse, model and recommend solutions to our customers business decisions. We have a huge variety of projects on all the time, ranging from niche consultancy projects to large, high profile programmes. So, you'll always be able to keep yourself challenged.

Your purpose:

In this role you can expect to undertake the following tasks:

  • Scoping, leading and contributing to a wide range of analytical studies.
  • Modelling of complex scenarios covering current and future investment options.
  • Application of a wide range of tools and techniques, including spreadsheet modelling, simulation, multi-criteria decision analysis and qualitative/soft analysis methods.
  • Determination of cost effectiveness, or cost-benefit analysis, in support of business cases for acquisition and support.
  • Interfacing with customers to help define and clarify requirements.
  • Generation of reports and presentation of findings to stakeholders.

In addition to client facing work you will be expected to contribute to preparation of new proposals, management of consultancy projects and leadership of teams.

What you can bring?

  • At interview you will be expected to demonstrate:
  • Strong analytical, systems thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to structure information, see and understand the ‘big picture’ and think about many things at once, as well as keeping track of the detail.
  • The ability to define and execute a ‘Concept of Analysis’ (approach / plan) that meets customer needs, drawing on your awareness and practical experience of a range of Operational Research techniques.
  • Experience in delivering presentations and leading workshops, pitching information at the right level of detail.
  • A track record of effective liaison with clients and stakeholders.
  • The ability to deliver clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • The ability to lead small teams and work as part of a team in a working environment where there can be frequent change, uncertainty and ambiguity.

You will have/be –

  • Numerate degree/higher degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to work, able to work alone or as part of a team.

In addition, preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate one or more of the following –

  • Experience in a relevant consultancy environment.
  • Experience of analysing data and providing support to business cases.
  • Experience of cost modelling methods.
  • Experience of conducting economic appraisals that support a comparison of acquisition options on a cost versus effectiveness basis.
  • Broad understanding of the military operational environment.
  • Effective contribution to bid preparation and business development.
  • Ability to develop junior team members in Operational Research.
