From academia to work
Our graduate program’s main focus is to help you to develop everything you need to achieve your professional qualification. You’ll start working on major projects from day one, learning from real-time experiences – and changing our world for the better.
Building future capability
Working in project teams at the Global Design Centre (GDC), you’ll gain specialized technical skills and knowledge. Your training will also prepare you to become a project or technical manager, or business leader of the future. Working in a truly global environment you’ll learn how to collaborate effectively with teams in India and abroad.
GDP selection
In November/December we start visiting Tier 1 and 2 engineering campuses across India. The selection process comprises a written test, group activity, technical interviews and concludes with a cultural fit conversation.
GDP framework
The two-year program starts in July/August and follows four phases. Each stage takes you along a path of logical development:
- Induction: An overview of the organization and our engineering projects
- Technical Training: On-The-Job Learning, Digital Project, Part 1
- Non-Technical Workshops: On-The-Job Learning, Digital Project, Part 2
- On-The-Job Learning: Through Job Rotation Within the Business
GDP project
Year after year, the highlight of the GDP is the Graduate Project, based on an AtkinsRéalis project delivery simulation. The fun, collaborative project runs over several weeks with set and surprise deliverables. Tasks include working remotely, client calls, submissions and a final pitch to the end clients.

What are the GDP's entry requirements?
You could be a final year student graduating from a bachelor’s degree or higher, in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering disciplines. Your cumulative percentage score should be greater than 70%, or equivalent.
Will I be able to work overseas
Our graduate vacancies are primarily in India. You may have the opportunity to work overseas, but this depends on the project you’re working on, the skills required on that project, and how far you’ve progressed. We can't guarantee that there will be international projects for all graduates as the workload will vary depending on the sector and location.
