As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such as widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing, and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.
We are currently looking for an Asset Engineer – Engineering & Analysis Support to support team in the management of the structure’s portfolio on the M25 Orbital Motorway around London.
This is a role to support the Structures Asset Management Team in management of the M25 structures portfolio. This is an important role which will focus on analysis of data to report on the current structures asset condition and identify/forecast maintenance interventions. The role will require a background and knowledge of engineering principles, asset degradation and maintenance needs for structures.
Additional activities will involve administration and improvement of the Asset Management Systems, ensuring data governance/data quality consistently meets DBFO contractual requirements and assisting with the production of structures 5 and 30 Year Asset Maintenance Plans.
There will be an opportunity be involved in the end to end process for structures management from shadowing inspections, data collection and supporting the renewal scheme implementation including complex structures such as the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge and Dartford Tunnels.
For long term sustainability a key activity will be to identify areas to promote innovation which will have greatest potential impact to our business.
Successful applicant/s will gain an insight from experienced engineering and asset management professionals. Involvement in the activities above will give successful applicants a good understanding of the end to end asset management process from inspection through to delivering the forward renewal work programme. The role would allow suitable experience to be gained to achieve professional membership with Institution of Civil Engineers and/or Institute of Asset Management.
Qualifications/ skills/ experience
· Civil engineering related qualification
· Good knowledge of structures
· Skills in Office Microsoft applications such as Word, PowerPoint and/or others
· Excel user skills
· Previous experience in a data analytical role would be advantageous
