Atkins Nuclear is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Controller in the overall management of the accounting and finance functions. Prepares or reviews a large portion of the Company’s financial information each month including generating or reviewing much of the internally and externally reported financial information. Manages the day-to-day financial audits and other compliance activities. Helps identify process improvements and helps maintain a strong system of compliance with internal controls.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in the oversite of Corporate Accounting and financial reporting.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial information.
• Manages quarterly reviews and annual audit of financial statements.
• Ensures compliance with established internal control environment.
• Monitors budget to actual within the accounting organization.
• Performs in-depth financial analysis and assists with the establishment of key performance indicators throughout the organization.
• Reviews and approves system entries and monthly account reconciliations.
• Assists with the company’s business intelligence and financial analysis initiatives.
• Participates in process improvement initiatives.
• Assists in the management of staff selection, development and retention. Establishes and monitors work goals and objectives. Evaluates employees through performance reviews, ongoing coaching and feedback methods.
• Provides direction and guidance to staff on most accounting matters.
• Follows organizational policies and procedures and ensures staff compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree required in accounting
• A Master's degree in accounting preferred
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience with at least 5 years of management experience
• Prefer Experience with government contracts, Deltek Costpoint experience, Prior Big-4 experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Proficient understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong management skills to effectively manage multiple departments, including coaching and mentoring staff
• Strong time management skills to effectively manage workload and deadlines
• Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office products, particularly with Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
