Atkins Infrastructure business are looking to appoint an Associate (Schools Market focus) who is looking to further develop their career in a forward-thinking Building Design practice. The role will be based in any of our UK office. 

General

Market lead in the school’s sector with a leading role in work-winning (single discipline and multi discipline) and service delivery.

Required to lead single discipline bids (MEP engineering and specialists) where other consultancies provide architecture and/or structural engineering services.

Required to support multidisciplinary bids, normally led by Atkins’ architects

Technical Leadership and oversight of school’s projects

While location is flexible, Atkins schools design hubs are located in Bristol, Leeds, Epsom and London.  Occasional travel to these offices will be required.

Reporting to Atkins’ national education lead and MEP Engineering Line Manager (depending on location).

Essential

Experience in the design of different categories of school (primary, secondary, SEND)

Experience of working for end-clients (e.g. DfE, Local Authorities, Multi-Academy Trusts, Free Schools)

Experience of working for D&B Contractors on school’s projects

Detailed knowledge of standards and guidance relating to schools (e.g. DfE Building Bulletins)

Recent experience of procurement processes for national and local consultancy and D&B contractor frameworks

Record of successful work-winning and delivery of school’s projects  

Personal Attributes

Commercial awareness in schools’ market/sub-markets

Marketing skills (MEP Engineering and multidisciplinary)

Stakeholder management, including schools’ communities

Self-motivated and able to drive pipeline of opportunities
