Why join us?

We are hiring! The Associate Director- Global Head of Robotics, Nuclear is an integral part of our Nuclear team who will bring a balance between technical knowledge and strategic awareness to develop and deliver a strategy and market plan to grow the SNC-Lavalin’s nuclear robotics business.  This position is global and can be based in the United States, Canada or UK.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • To bring a balance between technical knowledge and strategic awareness to develop and deliver a strategy and market plan to grow the SNC-Lavalin’s nuclear robotics business. You’ll be known for paying attention to the wider context and bigger picture alongside your in-depth knowledge of the application of robotics to solve complex problems.
  • You’ll enjoy creating the conditions for people to grow and develop for themselves in order to develop capability to deliver complete robotic solutions. This may include a combination of upskilling, recruitment, partnering and other strategic growth options.
  • You’ll constantly be looking for ways to help and serve others, prioritizing client engagement and winning work across key markets in Europe, North America and Asia/Pacific. And you’ll be energized by developing innovative technical and commercial solutions for the deployment of robotics on our clients’ projects. You’ll enjoy finding the right balance between technical innovation and commercial viability.

To support with all of this, you will:

  • Assume project director roles for our current portfolio of industry leading projects that seek to remove hands from gloveboxes, sort and segregate radioactive waste, deliver laser size reduction solutions and deliver unmanned inspections and data collection on site.
  • Support delivery of SNC-Lavalin’s wider nuclear digital transformation strategy, working with digital and products and technology teams around the world.
  • This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
  • Act as a figurehead for robotics in nuclear, engaging with journalists, conferences and exhibitions as required.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to publicize capability internally and externally.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in an engineering or technical field. BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Have experience in program planning, design & development, system manufacture, assembly, integration and test, operations, and/or maintenance of robotic systems.
  • Be able to travel as required (while maximizing the use of virtual technology and recognizing the current local and global travel restrictions!)
  • A love of technical leadership in the field of robotics with applicable knowledge and experience in Robotic Systems. Some knowledge of industrial applications, embedded systems, Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications, robotic systems and machine vision will be needed. It will be ideal if you have some experience within high hazard or safety critical industries (but this is only desirable).
  • A visionary attitude, looking to the future, which will enable you to develop and deliver strategic growth plans and measure outcomes. You’ll combine this with strong business and communication skills, both to negotiate with clients and partners and to deal with external stakeholders with ease. And you’ll thrive on managing staff and innovation projects, working collaboratively across regions and organizational boundaries.
