We are looking for a Associate Director - Project Controls Manager to be based in our Stockton office. The role will involve leading and delivering a Project management office to one of our key clients as well as building the Project Controls / Programme Management / Planning workload and capability within the office. The role will be largely based in the Stockton Office, but client commitments could involve some travel within the UK.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person with experience in the industry, regeneration and transport sectors, to join us in this field, and in return we will provide the necessary support to develop your career to the next level.

Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • A member of the Stockton Business Development team.
  • Contribute to the review, updating and implementing the business plan, developing business opportunities in line with the business strategy and looking for market opportunities.
  • Take responsibility for a project controls Key Account, including developing relationships, identifying opportunities and pipeline, providing service delivery, demonstrating your role as a key stakeholder and first point of contact.
  • Undertake networking including attending events as applicable to enhance the F+G Brand in the local marketplace.
  • Responsibility for developing clients in the project controls sector.
  • Supporting national sector growth agenda.
  • Build successful working relationships with local and national clients.
  • Understanding of the wider Faithful+Gould and Atkins business, including appreciation of activities outside your own team/region, overall services offered and strategic objectives.
  • Membership of a national team/forum to promote Faithful+Gould's reputation and knowledge, and visible internal personal profile.
  • Work with the team to continue to enhance the F+G Brand in the local marketplace and capitalise on the extensive pipeline of work.
  • Collaboration with other offices, service streams, sectors and the wider Atkins business to provide combined and innovative solutions improving our competitive advantage.

People:

  • Mentoring trainee, assistant and graduate colleagues.
  • Managing, coaching and leading high performing team(s) including confidently dealing with performance related issues.
  • Participating in relevant internal/external training initiatives.

Management:

  • A member of the Operations Management team responsible for all aspects of the operational performance and governance of the Stockton team.
  • Managing project accounts/governance and fee management activities and supporting colleagues in ensuring projects are commercially successful, including any fee negotiations with clients due to scope variations.
  • Being accountable for the success of your own profit and loss account.
  • Managing and leading productivity and planning resources for future commissions, projects or business demands.
  • Influencing and assisting senior colleagues in strategic decision-making
  • Managing and leading teams to enable a strongly motivated, engaged and high performing function; including carrying out team performance and development reviews (PDRs) and mentoring/coaching team member

Technical:

  • Have an up-to-date and developing knowledge of legal and technical matters relevant to the work you do, and the law of the region or country in which you practise.
  • Applying the principles of quality assurance and environmental management in compliance with the organisation's Policies.
  • Developing your understanding of the organisation's Policy and arrangements for managing your own personal safety while at work.

Requirements:

  • Chartered member of RICS or equivalent recognised professional qualification.
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience all aspects of project controls.
  • A good level of demonstrable experience of working with a range of clients within the project controls arena.
  • Effective client interface skills and experience with the ability to offer both strategic and project advice.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of professionals, predominantly based at client sites throughout the North East.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and acumen preferably gained though managing a P+L.
  • Demonstrable ability to expand the project controls service by growing existing commissions and generating new work through business relationships and competitive bidding.
  • Forward looking view to be able to identify gaps in the marketplace, suitable technology solutions and threats to current commissions.
  • Methodical approach to managing opportunities and risk, ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures.
  • High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills and presentational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Primavera P6.
  • Exhibits a strong awareness of the level of interaction required with the project team function to support the successful delivery of projects.
  • Ability to both accept and delegate responsibility and influence and lead a team.
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills working in a team environment.
  • Good attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills.
  • Able to use initiative.
  • Flexible to be office or site based per the needs of the business and client.
