We are looking for Associate Group Engineer (Tunnelling) to join our team. This role will be based at our Atkins office in Bangalore, IN. An ideal opportunity for individual looking to develop his Tunnelling experience by working with a multidiscipline team of Geotechnical/Tunnelling Engineers providing a comprehensive design service to our clients.

How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Ability to work in project teams under minimum supervision of senior staff.
- Assist in the delivery of projects and offers.
- Working towards chartered status (or equivalent) within a relevant professional association.
- Preparing geotechnical calculations, specifications (e.g., GI, etc.), reports (e.g., Desk Studies, GIR, GDR etc.) and drawings in line with project and legislation requirements.
- Construction experience in tunnelling and ground improvement would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with international clients.
- Managing selected small projects or components of large projects, taking accountability for their work, and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications.
- Conversant with tunnelling analysis software like FLAC, Phase2 etc.
- Ability to work independently and to support at checker capacity for other’s works. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
- Willingness to travel on short term assignments both within India and overseas.
- Leading their own technical and professional development.
- Knowledge in international standards like BS codes, AASHTO, CIRIA, Eurocodes, Canadian foundation engineering handbook.
- Ability to make contributions to the Digital Ideas or Innovations and implementation of the same.
What will you contribute?
- Degree in Civil Engineering and Masters in Rock and Underground Structures/structural engineering specialization is preferred.
- A strong academic background with degree in civil engineering bachelors or master’s degree in Tunnel Engineering or equivalent.
- Sufficient post-graduation experience, with a significant proportion gained with an engineering design company undertaking the design of tunnels or related infrastructure in Soft Ground and Hard Ground.
- Structural engineering codes and standards experience is preferred.
- With 12+ years of relevant design experience in a consulting environment.
- Experience working on ground improvement around tunnel shaft.
- Work experience in tunnel shaft, involving Diaphragm wall, Secant pile wall, head wall, tunnel opening and preparation of Specifications, drawings and BOQ is preferred.
- Work experience in BIM modelling (REVIT, Navisworks) would be an advantage.
- Proficient with geotechnical analysis software like PLAXIS 2D, PLAXIS 3D, SETTLE 3, XDISP.
- Experience of soil structure interaction work and numerical analysis.
- Experience of soil structure interaction work and numerical analysis would be an advantage.
- Numerical modelling software experience for design of excavations and/or concrete structures is preferred.
- Experience with structural design would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Engineering Geology and Tunnel Construction Methods.
- Analytical skills to assess complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Design experience using international codes.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills.
- Ability to supervise small project teams and undertake checking for other’s works.
- Proven experience of acting as a geotechnical engineer in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
- Some experience with tunnelling design is preferred.
- Preferably Chartered Engineer or Working towards obtaining chartership.
- Awareness of health and safety (CDM 2015), commercial and contractual risks.
- Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with customers.
- Flexibility for cross skilling in another sub discipline of Civil Engineering is expected.
