Apprentices will work with a variety of teams, join us and you can expect to be involved in a variety of projects:
Based in our brand-new city centre office; the Sheffield team is set up primarily for advanced mechanical design projects, with a speciality for mechanical handling and heavy moving structures. The office has a particularly diverse work stream, across many sectors such as Nuclear Decommissioning, Nuclear New Build, Defence, Transportation, Water, Offshore and more. The office currently has engineers working on high profile projects such ITER nuclear fusion reactor, Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm, Whitechapel Crossrail Station amongst many other fascinating projects, big and small. Day-to-day a candidate could expect to develop design and substantiation calculations, write technical reports, identify customer requirements and produce specification & work closely with colleagues in home office and across wider Atkins to deliver work effectively.
During your 5 year apprenticeship, no two days will be the same as you study and work with a variety of teams whilst developing the skills you need to enjoy a great future at Atkins. Spending either one day a week at the college or doing block weeks. Not only will you learn in the classroom, you’ll enjoy being part of the team as you will get involved with all kinds of projects and learn something new every day.
