Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Melbourne, FL Civil Engineering Group as a Civil Engineer (Land Development).

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, performs routine engineering work while developing professional proficiency. On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems. On assignments involving construction activities, works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

JOB DUTIES

Assist the design team working on civil engineering design projects including stormwater management and storm sewer systems, land development, site layout, potable water and sanitary sewer system improvements, and roadway improvements.
Job duties will include assisting with design work, drafting, shop drawing review, field work, code research, project delivery, site and environmental permitting, report writing.
Opportunities may exist for assisting the coastal engineering and airport planning groups depending on project staffing requirements.
Use of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
Minimal experience required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline.
No experience required with Master's Degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Must be able to use AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Candidate must be motivated and responsible.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

E.I. or EIT required.
ASCE, FES or other technical engineering society membership preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.
CAD skills preferred.
