SNC-Lavalin Inc. is seeking a Civil Technologist in our Bedford, NS office, reporting into our Senior Civil Engineer. This position requires expertise in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Reporting to the Civil Engineering department, you will be an integral part of our civil engineering team, participating in all project phases, from feasibility to detailed design and construction. Role will involve site inspection duties as required. Typical projects include land development, and, water, storm and sewer infrastructure, roads and highways, on military, commercial, industrial and residential projects.

Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, have a keen interest in a fast paced work environment, and be proficient in organization, and time/budget management. The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professional staff including engineers, subcontractors and clients.

How you will contribute to the team?

• Preparing and coordinating functional, preliminary, and detailed project drawings and specifications with project managers, technical staff and multi-discipline teams;
• Perform site visits as required;
• Providing project cost and quantity estimations;
• Provision of construction services for projects ranging from linear infrastructure to site grading and drainage;
• Assisting in the compilation of construction and record information; and,
• Organizing and maintaining a design and CADD digital file database for each project.

What will you contribute?

• Civil Engineering Technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution;
• Member or eligibility for registration with TechNova as a C.E.T. considered an asset;
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience, preferably in a consulting setting;
• Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office Suite including Word and Excel are required;
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and drafting municipal infrastructure and transportation projects;
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients, suppliers and contractors;
• Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while working independently under minimal supervision;
• A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve; and,
• Willingness to learn and a motivated team player.
• Eligible Candidate for CISD Reliability Clearance (requires fingerprinting)
