How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Oversee total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule, with a reporting function to project stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and rollout of industry standard construction processes such as work management, safe work practices, and contractor management.
  • Prepare and execute construction management plan for complex industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Interface with client, provide regular update and present project status including EV & KPIs.
  • Plan the activities and work with a scheduler and site superintendent to carry out their plans.
  • Ensure HSE requirements are established and executed with the support of an HSE Supervisor.
  • Ensure all work is executed to highest levels of quality and integrity.
  • Lead constructability exercises and perform optimization of contractor schedules and estimates.
  • Understanding of process facilities and clean environments, in order to understand the impact of activities on adjacent spaces / ongoing operations.
  • Has a general understanding of all elements of a building and construction procedures for Civil, structural, architectural, mechanical electrical and controls to plan and coordinate activities, assess system completeness, contribute to commissioning planning and development of punch lists.
  • Capable of developing detailed activity/phasing plan for any work connected to existing facilities.
  • Participation in review and qualification of new contractors.
  • Establish and maintain links with relevant site support functions to enable effective communication, planning and management of contractor/construction activities.
  • Maintain an overview of the three (3)-week look ahead meeting to ensure interfaces are coordinated
  • Participate and or lead risk reviews and contribute in developing joint CNL and contractor risk registers.
  • Authorize work that is executed on a time and material basis. Validate completion of work that is completed on a fixed price basis.
  • Interface with design consultants as needed for the delivery of the work.
  • Lead site team of 4-5 and provide mentorship to juniors and intermediates.
  • Understanding of commissioning and qualification process, with skillset to support the planning.
  • Available to travel in the GTA.

What will you contribute?

  • At least 15-20 years demonstrated progressive construction management experience with recent experience as a construction manager, ideally in industrial facilities.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the execution of construction safety programs under Ontario’s Occupation Health and Safety Act.
  • Excellent leadership, team building and managerial skills.
  • Knowledgeable with current and advanced construction methods to introduce efficiencies.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD, Navisworks, MS Office applications for execution of tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze processes and impacts, provide recommendations and develop solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours.
  • Must be self-motivated and flexible relative to work assignments; possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to interface with peers, other company organizations and Senior Management.
  • Capable of working within Southern Ontario.
