Job Title

Lead/Senior C&I Engineer – Energy Systems

The Global Energy market is undergoing unprecedented change as the world strives towards a net zero carbon target. The sector must contend with high penetration of modern generation and storage technologies, prepare for the increased demand associated with the electrification of transport, the birth of the hydrogen economy and address the challenges of safe operation and decommissioning of aging and legacy assets as the we progress along the decarbonisation pathway.

About the Project or About the Team

Atkins are proud to be working at the heart of the challenges in the energy industry and within our Energy Systems team we are continually developing and growing within this area. Our team is currently delivering work across the generation, energy storage and decentralised energy sectors across the UK as well as supporting other Energy and infrastructure business sectors. We are in a position where we need to grow our team to enhance our capability and strengthen our service offering. As such we are recruiting Lead & Senior Engineers to join our EC&I Engineering team.  

What you’ll be doing

You will be working in an influential position within our EC&I Engineering team based in Strathclyde Business Park near Glasgow. Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices. You’ll be client focused – being able interface with clients, understand their needs and convert opportunities into successful workstreams.

You’ll need to have

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience
  • Chartered Engineer through the IET

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant industrial experience in the energy sector
  • An understanding of the engineering project and asset lifecycles
  • Good knowledge of design processes and systems integration
  • Experience of working with safety related systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain existing and develop new client relationships
  • Aptitude for leading a team and developing junior engineers
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Track record in working safely on industrial and high hazard sites
