Role Context :

The opportunity presented provides an opening for the successful candidate to join a highly motivated team and rise to the growing global demand for world class Cyber Security services, in the specialized field of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).

Principally, the Cyber Security engineering team based in Montreal undertakes high-quality engineering consultancy services in the Rail & Transit sector. Other ICS industry domains featuring the overlap in operational technology, network technology and information technology are also captured, such as: Power, Utilities, Oil and Gas.

Our Cyber Security Engineers and Specialists assess all ICS system elements as well as proposed network architectures, to identify the existing and potential vulnerabilities associated with the digital ecosystem. The cyber security practitioners define and propose technological solutions, policies and procedures for the protection of facilities and people, through delivery of a technically and contractually compliant digital infrastructure.

Your primary responsibilities:

Reporting to the National Cyber Lead, the successful candidate will assume a dual role.  As a main responsibility, the Cybersecurity Team Lead will support the Leadership and Cyber Engineers in the execution and delivery of varied consultancy work across the live projects and assignments portfolio.  In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of business development and operations, to successfully expand the cyber assignments portfolio, increase revenues, profitability and ensure overall operational excellence.

Management responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the cyber engineer(s) in their project and assignment work execution in accordance with the delivery schedule, contractual requirements and critical path

  • Support the cyber security national lead in the management of the engineering resources on projects and assignments to ensure timely resolution of technical and process-based issues, overcoming of challenges and escalation of risks and/or conflicts as they arise

  • Peer review and quality control of deliverables produced by the Cyber team – to achieve technical compliancy and successful sign-off

  • Ensure the allocated budget for projects and assignments is monitored to control overspends and preserve a positive margin

  • Provide cybersecurity expertise for Industrial Control Systems

  • Perform the necessary analysis to provide all the required evidence to support the project requirements

Business development responsibilities:

  • Cyber Security Market outlook,

  • Cyber Security Opportunities capture (Identification / Go No-Go),

  • Cyber Security Opportunity: Commercial, Contractual Risk assessment and Conflict of interest

  • Define a Cyber Security-specific framework for measuring the above risks and COI in relation to market opportunities

  • Using existing bid materials and concepts: establish a library of modular bid and proposal elements, to improve efficiency in future bid formulation

  • Resource planning / forecasting, for existing and future assignments

  • Budgeting and quantitative assessment of effort required for proposals and bids,

  • Leverage industry contacts to secure new contracts,

  • Establish and Develop Key Client accounts and MSA frameworks,

  • Lead and Contribute to the development of proposals to increase the work-bank in the cyber team

  • Contribute to the development of proposals to increase the work bank in the cyber team

  • Planning of all the cybersecurity activities needed for major rail and transit project from: requirements management, early feasibility phases, through design, test and commissioning, into the revenue demonstration and operations

  • Manage client relationships and interfaces, and advise clients on recommended actions relating to active projects

    Requirements:

  • Experience in coordinating small teams of engineers in their delivery of work on projects and assignments
  • Experience in the identification and capture of engineering consultancy contracts and mandates;
  • Business development or business operations experience
  • Computer Programming, Networking or Telecommunications Engineering degree, or equivalent
  • 5 years minimum experience in the application of one or more of the following branches of IT/Network Engineering:

  • Information Technology / Datacentre
  • Telecommunications / Network
  • Automation / SCADA / Control Systems
  • Computer Sciences

  • The candidate will possess in-depth experience in the IT/Networking field with most recent experience having come from any three of the following areas;

  • Cyber Security Consultancy group
  • Penetration testing
  • Application security
  • Malware Reverse Engineering
  • Threat Intelligence
  • Security Architecture
  • Industrial Control Systems Security
  • Telecom and Network security
  • System or Network administration in a complex multi-national network
  • Working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) or in a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT/CIRT)

  • Knowledge of NIST, IEC 62443 and ISO270001 cybersecurity frameworks and APTA cybersecurity consideration for public transit an asset

  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, both written and verbal:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook

    Desired Requirements:

  • Interest in public speaking and representation at seminars and conferences, to promote new client relationships and proliferation of knowledge to shape the cyber industry
  • Experience in rail and transit or Industrial Control System field preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PEng), or European equivalent: CEng (Chartered Engineer) certified and / or working towards these accreditations
  • CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, GICSP, CISSP or equivalent certifications held or working towards
