Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah.
Key Performance Indicators:
• Overall utilization of UAE based Design and Engineering team
• PSRs performance (EBIT, Cash) of Design and Engineering projects in the UAE
• Technical disciplines performance to approved budgets and programmes on projects in UAE, to the required technical standards.
• Supporting the UAE Win Work team in winning new Design and Engineering work in UAE
• Staff development and recruitment to address the expected pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering team management:
• Operational responsibility for the deployment of the UAE based Design and Engineering talent pool across projects in UAE, KSA, RoMEA and globally to ensure target utilization.
• Line management responsibility and professional development for the UAE based Design and Engineering team.
• Manage size and composition of the UAE Design and Engineering team to best match planned pipeline, market demand and the evolution of Building Design services based on client needs.
Building Design and Infrastructure Design project delivery:
• Responsible for PSR performance of all Design and Engineering client commissions (EBIT, Cash).
• Responsible for delivery to agreed budgets and programmes of all Design and Engineering projects.
• Responsible for quality delivery in line with client requirements, local standards and QSSE guidelines.
• Provide thought leadership to bring innovation to our design solutions.
• Close collaboration with UAE Technology Director on the roll-out of digital tools and capabilities to deliver a better and more effective client service.
Winning work:
• Close collaboration with UAE Win Work Director on building a pipeline of Design and Engineering opportunities with target client accounts in the UAE.
• Direct engagement with clients and the market on the changing needs for Design and Engineering services and how we can best meet these via re-thinking our services and how they are delivered.
• Drive thought leadership and marketing of our Design and Engineering services and innovations on how we can support our clients.
Requirements:
• Relevant university degree, preferably in engineering or architecture.
• Relevant industry accreditation.
• 15 years of experience leading Design and Engineering commissions with at least 5 years’ experience in managing a design practice.
• Strong people leader with a track record of managing a diverse resource pool.
• Track record of delivering strong financial results across a portfolio of projects and delivering innovative solutions.
• Track record of winning new revenue in the Design and Engineering market.
• Strong market network with clients and potential partners.
• Experience and the use of technology and digital tools to deliver building design commissions.
