The Role and Responsibilities

  • As part of our growing Energy Business in West Cumbria, you would work alongside our multidiscipline engineering teams to provide innovative digital solutions to support a variety of projects for a variety of clients within our digital assets team.
  • The team offers innovative digital services and solutions across some challenging projects not only in the nuclear industry but also the wider energy sectors such as in renewables, oil and gas and conventional power.
  • From our office, which includes most major disciplines, you will be involved in developing innovative, practical solutions for our clients across the UK and further afield.
  • You’ll work with our project and technical leads as well as our clients to capture their requirements as well as working with colleagues across the Atkins group to develop proposals for new work.
    You will support the development of and deliver innovative digital solutions across the full project lifecycle from reality capture, design, site delivery and asset management.
  • Seeing you work with business leaders as well as lead teams in the delivery of tasks as required ensuring they are delivered to time and quality.

The Person
You will be motivated and proactive with a willingness to learn and adapt. You’ll be able to work both independently and as part of a team and possess good interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively verbally, visually and in writing.
Your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide digital, coding, software development to assist our use of visualisation hardware and immersive media support on work carried out by our technical departments.
  • Support and deliver innovative digital solutions to reality capture, design and engineering, site delivery and asset management.
  • Work with colleagues to capture client requirements and liaise on technical and general project aspects.
  • Support colleagues across the Atkins group to develop proposals for new work.

In order to deliver the above we are looking for you to have:

  • A qualification in or working towards a qualification in software development, gaming, immersive media or a related subject
  • Experience in the generation and development of 3D models
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and techniques
  • Familiarity of programming/coding languages
  • A willingness to learn and adapt
  • Good communication skills

Whilst not essential the following would be desirable:

  • Some experience in supporting the delivery of solutions to technical problems
  • Familiarity with Immersive Media such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
  • Familiarity with gaming engines use and development such as Unity and Unreal

• Although the team is based in Whitehaven, the wider Energy business has locations around the country and opportunities also exist at various client sites. Flexibility on work location and a willingness to undertake secondments to other sites from time to time as required is an important aspect of how we work and we want you to be comfortable with this culture
