Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Houston, TX Environmental Sciences Group as an EcoSciences Intern.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, performs a variety of routine technical tasks to assist technicians, engineers, planners, architects, surveyors or scientists working in transportation, development, environmental, land surveying or other technical services of the company.

Note: This classification is used for college students who are enrolled in a related technical Bachelor's degree program at a Junior or Senior academic level and are hired for temporary work during their summer or other school break.

JOB DUTIES

Performs routine technical support assignments.
Perform a variety of technical tasks to assist scientists.
Establish and maintain records or files of technical data or documents.
Perform various field work assignments.
Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and graphic materials, and perform other such duties as the intern’s Supervisor may deem necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school plus two years of specialized training such as is obtained in vocational or technical school, or completion of an Associate's degree program in a related technical field, or completion of the first two years in a four-year college or university technical program.
No experience is required with a related Associate's degree or its equivalent; two years of related experience is required without such formal training.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Math skills and basic science skills are generally required.
Computer skills required to enter data in spreadsheets or databases.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

None.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife and Fisheries, Marine Biology, or similar program.
Candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s degree should be either a rising junior or senior and include their current GPA and summary of relevant coursework on their resume.
Master’s degree candidates should also provide a summary of GPA and relevant coursework.
