Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Tampa, FL Water Resources Group as an Entry-Level Drainage Engineer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE
A strong candidate for this role will assist engineers in roadway design for FDOT and municipal projects. Experience in MicroStation or AutoCAD is a plus.

JOB DUTIES

Assists in roadway drainage design which includes storm drain systems, pond design, culvert analysis and bridge hydraulic analysis.
Prepare cost estimates and technical reports and memorandums.
May coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
May perform other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary from time to time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Engineering. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Good technical writing, computer, communication and organization/planning skills are required.
Experience and familiarity with the following programs and methodology is a plus: MicroStation, Geopak Drainage, InRoads, 3D corridor modeling, AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS and/or HEC-RAS.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Familiarity with FDOT roadway drainage design experience.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

E.I. or EIT desired.

Job also requires ability to plan, prioritize and review project plans and documents, evaluate alternatives, and devise appropriate solutions.
