Based out of our Burnaby office you will have the chance to perform a broad range of tasks as well as the opportunity to work on a variety of unique and interesting projects (upstream and downstream oil & gas, mining, forestry, government, and industry) in the lower mainland and across BC. This position reports to the Project Specialist.

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of soil/groundwater remediation and water treatment process equipment
  • Measurement and collection of environment related information, participation in field inspections, observation and note taking, performance logging data
  • Liaise with project personnel, clients, and contractors to:  plan, coordinate, and safely execute maintenance and field work, clear services, groundwater sampling, complete drilling or excavation supervision assignments Prepare borehole/test pit logs, site plans, preparation of basic reports with support from the Project Engineer/Project Manager
  • Perform field work as directed, including equipment troubleshooting, soil sampling, groundwater/surface water/process water sampling, monitoring, well installation
  • Responsible to develop and track project schedule and budget with Project Engineer/Project Manager
  • Guide technicians assigned to work on a common project

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will have an aptitude in mechanical processes (e.g., pumps and related controls, filters, various types of air blowers and compressors, etc.) that may be utilized in water and vapour treatment processes as well as an interest in the environmental service industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (able to communicate with junior staff, as well as technical report writing skills/experience)
  • Strong Word and Excel skills
  • Environmental Technologist Diploma or a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (environmental science, environmental engineering)
  • 2-5 years of previous work experience in environmental industry
  • As the position will involve primarily field work, the candidate must be willing to work in variable climatic conditions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (able to communicate with junior staff, as well as technical report writing skills/experience)
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 40lbs) and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
  • Travel to various sites and office locations within BC  (approximately 20of the time annually) is required
  • Valid Class 5 BC drivers’ licence
