EDPM is the Engineering, Design & Project Management sector of SNC-Lavalin. We plan, design and enable the delivery of complex projects and major programmes across transportation, energy and infrastructure. SNCL Atkins currently have an opportunity for Financial Accountant - Financial Accounting in Worcester.
Job Summary:
This position is part of the Shared Service Facility (SSF) Financial Accounting team. The role involves the provision of support to the SSF Financial Controller. The main activities concern preparation of SSF management accounts, IFRS 16 lease accounting, internal “autotrading” and reconciling the quarterly inter-company return.
Responsible to: SSF Financial Controller
Key Relationships:
Internal - the SSF Financial Accounting Department; Department Managers; other departments within the SSF; the broader Atkins Finance community (including overseas FC).
External – occasionally Atkins suppliers & customers.
Job Description:
- Preparation of SSF management accounts and analysing variances
- Preparing budget and forecast information for SSF costs
- Prepare journals and reconcile IFRS16 lease accounting entries
- Calculation of monthly internal autotrading commitments, including adjustments for local taxes e.g. Withholding Tax, Deemed Profit Tax and Goods Services Tax
- Assist with the quarterly inter-company reconciliation process and feedback to Group companies (over 80 overseas entities)
- Assistance with the preparation of annual corporation tax packs for four statutory companies
- Preparation of analysis and reports for Group Tax, Group Finance and Group Treasury departments.
- Analysis and submission of related party transactions for parent company, SNC-Lavalin
- Adhoc projects and tasks
Person Specification
Essential
Technical and Professional Experience
- Qualified in a recognised professional accountancy qualification
- The candidate must have an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including use and set-up of Pivot tables and formulas.
- Experience of an accounting software package
Desirable
Good working knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software
