Atkins is part of the SNC Lavalin Group of companies, the delivery of its IT is via a function called IT Services (ITS). Our ITS business is made up of digital, user service, technology, and project management experts, working across multiple regions. Our teams are supporting those based in offices and working on remote sites with our clients where we partner the business on some of the world’s iconic design and build and infrastructure projects.
The Infrastructure Engineer position is a hands-on role to working within a team delivering on projects, new services and offering technical advice to project teams and the business and resolving incidents.
This role would suit an individual who has experience within a 2nd/3rd line support environment and has proven experience troubleshooting cloud and server/storage related issues within a large organization. The successful candidate will be dynamic, analytical and is able to come up with smart solutions within budget constraints.
Key Deliverables/Responsibilities:
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Cloud services, HP server and NetApp storage.
- Design, build, and deploy servers, storage, and cloud solutions.
- Delivery of projects and new services including cloud platforms.
- Resolving 2nd/3rd line incident support tickets.
- Monitoring and evaluating server and storage performance issues.
- Continual service improvement through best practice and new and innovative technologies.
- Assist with managing the technology life cycle.
Technical Experience:
Essential Technical Requirements:
To be successful in this role we would expect you to have in depth experience with:
- Experience in Hybrid Cloud environments.
- Experience with managing Azure identities, conditional access, and Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of NetApp, HP storage platforms.
- VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation technologies.
- Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019.
- Active Directory Domain Services, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Group Policy.
Desirable Experience:
To be successful in this role we would expect you to have experience with:
- Installing, configuring. Managing Veeam Backup and Replication.
- Installing and configuring Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Workspace.
- SQL Administration - 2014, 2016, 2019.
- Understanding of PowerShell.
- Knowledge of monitoring & reporting based systems - SolarWinds, SCOM.
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a UK enterprise environment.
- Knowledge of Windows security fundamentals.
- Monitoring and performance tuning.
- Working within a helpdesk / support environment, dealing with customer issues through to resolution.
Behavioural Competencies:
- Proven experience of delivering process efficiencies and improvements.
- Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams.
- Demonstrate ability to take ownership of and accountability for relevant products and services.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and complete your own work, whilst remaining a team player.
- Willingness to engage with and work in other technologies.
