Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer position is a hands-on role to manage, monitor and support the server infrastructure (both physical & virtual), storage infrastructure (primarily Isilon & NetApp), backup solutions and other services including DHCP. Working within the Infrastructure Operations Team within the Infrastructure Division you will provide support with monitoring the services, resolving incidents, implementing customer requests, delivering on projects and providing operational support & services.

This role would be suited to an individual who has experience with supporting & monitoring a large server environment as well as proven experience troubleshooting issues within a large (5000+ user, multi-region) environment.  We are looking for someone who can be dynamic and a real problem solver.

Key Deliverables/Responsibilities

• Supporting and monitoring the global infrastructure server environment using vRops, HP OneView and SCOM.
• Capacity management for infrastructure server resources, both reporting and responding to.
• Responding to incidents from either users or our alerting systems.
• Monitoring storage infrastructure, backups, assisting with file restores (from Rubrik and other backup platforms) and data archive requests.
• NetBackup monitoring, tape rotation, import/export, restore, policy creation/modification.
• User and Active Directory groups creation, modification, deletion.
• Managing, supporting, monitoring of DHCP server/services.
• Building, configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server 2016/2019 via PXE boot, hardening & decommissioning.
• Troubleshooting Citrix XenApp issues with published/streamed application as well as shared desktops.
• Writing knowledgebase documentation, processes and assisting to team members.

Experience Required

• At least 5-6 years of experience is required for this role to be considered.

Essential Technical Requirements

To be successful in this role we would expect you to have hands-on experience with:

• Managing, supporting and monitoring a Windows 2016/2019 server platform.
• Managing, supporting and monitoring a VMWare ESXi virtualisation platform.
• Managing, supporting and monitoring a Citrix XenApp server estate.
• Managing and monitoring server hardware (HP & Cisco preferred).
• Proactive maintenance and responding to user incidents.
• Managing and monitoring of Rubrik and NetBackup services
• Server build processes, both physical and virtual.

• Active Directory and security group modification.

• L1/L2 troubleshooting of infrastructure issues and resolving of alerts.

• Experience with working with other teams across the globe.

You must also be able to demonstrate experience with:

• Microsoft monitoring systems (SCOM & SCCM preferred).
• Managing and monitoring storage platforms (EMC and NetApp Preferred).

• Service Now and reporting systems.
