Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Ft Lauderdale, FL team as an ITS/TSM&O Engineer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, performs routine engineering work while developing professional proficiency. On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems. On assignments involving construction activities, works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

JOB DUTIES

The role of technology and the benefits it can unlock for our transportation clients. It continues to be an exciting growth area for Atkins business, and in response to this growth, we are seeking an ITS/TSM&O Engineer to support our clients in their Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) and Intelligent Transport System (ITS) programs. Duties will include:

Developing scopes for new TSM&O projects.
Shaping TSM&O requirements in major design projects
Liaison on TSM&O requirements with other departments in the client organization.
Provide technical advice on TSM&O and ITS initiatives.
Develop and coordinate new Concept of Operations
Support engagement with local agencies and partners
Undertake TSM&O and ITS design.
Develop requirements for technical support projects.

The role, based in Fort Lauderdale, will be a combination of working in clients’ offices and in Atkins’ South Florida offices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Engineering. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with a Bachelor's Degree in a branch of Engineering directly related to hiring discipline; no experience required with a Master's degree

SPECIAL SKILLS

Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills. PC and CAD skills required.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

E.I. or EIT required.
