This role will require occasional travel around the UK.

Our team
We are a collaborating team and working from multiple locations across the UK. As part of the wider Business Services team we work with the Business Systems, Assurance, Change and Intelligence functions to provide robust infrastructure to support the wider Faithful+Gould organisation.
The role
We are looking for a self-motivated software developer with experience to join a well- established team, developing data driven web- based tools to support our business.
Our primary product is a totally bespoke data warehouse / business intelligence system. It captures data through system integration and user input and then presents it on dashboards, PDF reports and Excel exports to support programme management, marketing, cost benchmarking and more. We have a desire to add self-discovery to the data capture side and more data analytics to the processing/presentation side.
We also support a mission-critical Classic ASP based system used by a major UK client for managing their value-based contracts.
On joining the team, you will learn how to do Agile software development using a simple but strict methodology to maximise quality; how to create software in a Continuous Deployment environment which can deploy software and database changes at the push of a button; and how to write data-driven software to remove the need for writing repetitive code in the future e.g. you will never need to code a data input form/page again.
Responsibilities:
- Select tasks from the sprint backlog
- Implement them using our house style
- Present your code for peer review
- Modify as appropriate
- Submit into our continuous deployment system
- Update development wiki
Desirable skills & qualifications
- Software engineering degree or equivalent
- C# asp.net MVC
- Javascript with jquery
- SQL Server stored procedure development
- Test driven development
- Willingness to share in the support of a classic ASP system
- Good communication skills
- Motivated self-starter
- Effective whilst delivering remotely
- Comfortable learning to work with end users to gather and articulate user requirements
Training and development:
The work the team does offers continual opportunities to learn new principles and techniques through practical application (do-it and learn) with mentoring from our team lead who has been writing software for 40 years. Friday afternoons are typically set aside as innovation time to try new technologies/techniques or to add features to our products that haven’t been explicitly asked for but would enhance it.
