Landscape Supervisor

The M25 DBFO, despite being one of the busiest motorways in Europe, comprises a huge, connected area of primarily wild verge habitat which provides valuable landscape habitat for a wide range of biodiversity.  Often these undisturbed landscapes offer the only viable habitat for some species, forming an ecological corridor through urban or intensive agricultural areas. At Connect Plus Services we strive not only to protect the wildlife and vital habitats within on the highway verge, but we also aim to go above and beyond to enhance these habitats to their full potential. This role sits within a multi-disciplinary our Environment and Sustainability Team developing landscape and biodiversity schemes on the network.

Role will be based out of Leatherhead or Dartford, however we welcome flexible working.

This role is available part time, job share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full time.

Accountabilities:

•            Condition inspections for the Soft Estate

•            Preparation of works schedules, spend profiling and monitoring of landscape Contractors and works for the Asset Management Forward Plan and Improvement scheme areas.

•            Landscape surveys and site inspections in relation to schemes

•            Identify opportunities for improved performance and new techniques to improve efficiency.

•            Assist the Project Managers to devise, design and execute native landscape schemes.

•            Learn and become familiar with the Biodiversity Nett Gain DEFRA metrics.

•            Advisory services for tree and other soft estate related issues

•            Input into the handover of the soft estate from third party organisations.

•            Input into Environmental Impact Assessment reports as required

•            Travel around M25 network.

•            Significant amount of site assessment work.

•            Office will be partly at home and partly in CPS offices at Dartford or Leatherhead.

•            Some night / weekend work may be required for supervision of works.

Experience / Qualifications:

•            Proven knowledge landscape management techniques including industry best practice.

•            Good native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grass identification skills preferred

•            Minimum National Qualification Network Level 3-4 in relation to Arboricultural and Landscape Management qualifications or degree in landscape management, countryside management or similar

•            Holder of a current CSCS card (or capable of achieving)

•            Full UK driving licence

•            Highways experience preferred.

•            Preparation of work packages / schedules
