Lead Cost Manager

Our Canada team is growing!  Responsibilities

-Serves as the team leader on larger projects and is the client’s main contact for providing cost management services, including invoice validation, cost forecasting and reporting, change management, close out administration, procurement management, earned value and value engineering.

- On a day-to-day basis, ensures that the team is meeting client deliverables, providing cost reports, cash flows and other reporting needs.

-Provides support and training for the cost team.

-Supports the team with earned value analysis.

-Ensures the team is meeting internal quality assurance measures.

-Assists the client with cost information relating to any legal issues due to non performance by the contractors or engineering services and mechanical liens etc.

-Manages internal job costing in relation to the fee and services to be provided, resources required and all project reporting including job number, Project Status Report (PSR) and other company reporting policies.

-Provides senior level general project management support as necessary (e.g., financial/operational budgeting, consolidation, analysis, forecasting; business development; pricing; billing; key client/consultant relationship management).

-Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Work involves coordination, research and problem solving on a variety of projects with unique or controversial problems, the solution of which has an important effect on major organization programs.

Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Acts independently on technical matters.

Supervises and/or coordinates with other senior technical and support staff.

Interfaces with senior technical staff, technical managers, and administrative staff and managers as necessary.

Represents the organization in conferences with clients and prospective clients.

 

 Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related field, plus ten years relevant experience.  

-Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision- making abilities.

-Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.

-Must have experience with Primavera or Microsoft Projects.

-Must have an understanding of Administration of Construction Contracts – for liens, AIA contracts, etc.

-Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.

-Must be a member of RICS or AACE or another relevant professional body.
