How will you contribute to the team?
- Prepares and reviews material take offs from planning documents or engineering drawings.
- Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
- Serve as primary point of contact for the estimating team and liaise with the Design Builder's contracts and change management groups.
- Prepares and reviews material take offs from planning documents or engineering drawings.
- Prepares conceptual and comparative estimates from preliminary sketches.
- Reviews contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.
- Performs accurate quantity takeoffs of available design documents.
- Assists senior staff in ways to make projects more efficient. Seeks ways to improve accuracy and efficiency of the processes.
- Maintains and updates data library of estimates.
- Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
- Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems. Create and present reports to upper management.
- Provide support to the Project management team to administer the contract between Sound Transit and Design Build Contractor.
What will you contribute?
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Construction Management.
- Minimum of 15+ years experience preferably in heavy civil/infrastructure/transportation projects.
- Strong hand on experience with MS Office tools.
- Experience in heavy civil construction/railway estimating minimum 8 years.
- Experience creating detailed estimates for railroad construction projects pertaining to but not limited to work associated with track laying machine, electric traction, interlocking replacement/renewal, communications and signal and high-speed rail environment.
- Negotiation experience with Design Build Contractors.
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with peers, management, DB Contractor and Sound Transit.
- Highly organized and ability to process multiple estimate reviews in parallel.
- Some experience in contract administration.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Good knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools.
- Demonstrated proficiency estimating formats.
- Proficient in benchmarking and change management.
