Materials Control Specialist

This position is responsible for managing the receiving and discharge of materials coming into the Project, which will consist of machinery and components for all major equipment and systems, installation materials and consumables. The Materials Control Specialist will execute work through contractors, as well as performing work. This is a fulltime internal position with Faithful+Gould that comes with robust benefits. How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Secure storage and temporary hold locations for materials to be received and establish acceptable laydowns.

  • Work with procurement expeditors to know when material/equipment is due to arrive and make appropriate arrangements with on-site Team to unload and place materials/machinery to proper location(s).

  • Track movement in and out of locations and keep procurement and material trackers up to date.

  • Dispense machinery and materials to appropriate installation Teams/contractors, with appropriate tracking and records kept.

  • Work with Procurement and Finance to maintain materials budget trackers and assist in document receipt of goods, and in processing any payment release to OEMs/vendors.

  • Maintain secured storage areas, as required, until all equipment and materials are properly discharged and accounted for.

  • Knowledge of placing purchase orders and purchase requisitions.

  • Responsibilities for tracking the physical location and receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming/ outgoing materials and equipment.

  • Maintain spares and track spares lists and physical locations as required.

  • Responsible for abiding by the specific company materials management procedures.

  • Track preventive maintenance requirements and communicate requirements to appropriate entities.

  • Manage the inspections of received materials and preparation of overage, shortage, and damage reports and communicate with procurement and finance.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Supply chain or a related field, “relevant experience may be substituted for a degree”.

  • Three years relevant experience.

  • Maximo experience is a plus.

  • Must work a flexible schedule, as required to execute duties of this position.  As materials are being received, and shipment schedules are varied, hours and day schedule may require adjustment.

  • Highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to navigate Web-based construction management software (often provided by the client).

  • Must have experience with setting meetings, organizing agendas, and keeping minutes for projects records.

  • Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft -Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.

  • Data entry experience and understanding of scheduling and planning concepts.
