Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Architecture Team in Alexandria, VA as a MEP/FP Manager.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

In this MEP/FP Regional Manager position, you will provide the necessary technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the MEP/FP regional team to assure total quality of all engineering efforts, appropriate proposal and fee development and assist with overall client management.

 
 
JOB DUTIES
 

  • Ability to act independently with minimal direct oversight while managing engineering staff.
  • Provide planning, staffing, scheduling, and budget management on projects.
  • In depth knowledge of general building construction specific to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) systems is essential.
  • Requires thorough knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Ability to solve problems with new and innovative solutions, examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of project
  • Ability to handle multiple complex assignments simultaneously.
  • Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers to discuss future and or current projects.
  • Assist in Business Development in pursuing new work including participation in client presentations.
  • Performs highly advanced engineering work, involving the solution of unprecedented technical problems that require major technological advances which may open the way for extensive related development, or involving management and coordination of usually large complex projects, heavy regulatory agency involvement, or unique management requirements and/or client needs.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. 
  • This level may be achieved by Engineers with fifteen of experience since B.S. or fourteen years since M.S. 
  • Typical incumbent has twenty years of experience.
  • Have fifteen or more years of experience with a consulting engineering firm designing and building engineering systems, have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the architectural and engineering industry.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and can work with Revit.
  • Position requires good leadership and motivational skills, solid technical background, good organizational skills, attention to detail, quality control, client interaction and representation.
  • Will provide technical expertise on large programs and projects with substantial fees, developing standards for diverse activities.
  • Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

 
 
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

  • P.E. license is required. LEED Accredited preferred.
