Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Business Development group as a National Pursuits/Capture Manager. This position is preferred to be located in any of our major US hub offices, including Orlando, FL; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Miami, FL; Tampa FL; Atlanta, GA; Alexandria, VA; Calverton, MD; Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; Henderson, NV; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; or Denver CO. However, co-location with any office considered.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Lead the pursuit team.
• Serve as “cheerleader” for the pursuit.
• Prepare the pursuit budget and drive the process to meet the budget.
• Direct all aspects of the pursuit capture activities in accordance with our firm’s capture process, under guidance and support from the National Capture Director.
• Drive strategy development.  Participate in strategy development, strategic pursuit development, competitor analysis, and market research. 
• Identify differentiators and win themes.
• Lead pre-positioning activities (although not client-facing).
• Lead storyboarding, working with the Proposal Manager.
• Provide proposal oversight (storyboarding and reviews) to ensure that the proposal reflects the strategy.  May write key message-intensive sections such as the Cover Letter or Executive Summary. This position is not a Proposal Manager, but a Capture Manager, responsible for ensuring that the strategy is incorporated into the proposal.
• Drive development of presentation strategy, support materials and visuals; coordinate and coach rehearsals and presentations.
• Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the capture process conform to internal stage gate reviews, to include scheduling the necessary reviews to receive approval for qualifications and/or proposal/pricing submissions. 
• Work across geographies and markets, with our primary markets being transportation, intermodal, state & local government, federal, and private sector.
• Travel, approximately 10% typically, but this has been suspended during the COVID-19 emergency.
• Perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deems necessary.

  What will you contribute?

• Bachelor's degree in English, business administration, marketing or a related major, or a field related to the A/E industry, or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience. Prefer fifteen years of relevant experience, with at least ten of these managing pursuits and a proven track record in pursuit/capture management and/or sales valued at $5 million.
• Job requires strong organizational and supervisory skills, together with a high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Outgoing, self-starter with innate sales orientation, optimism and drive. Ability to facilitate teams. Experience in presentation coaching.
• The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience in Architectural/Engineering marketing, plus some business development or client management experience. 
• Ability to lead and challenge large teams, think strategically, know the A/E marketplace, write well, coach interview teams and know how to win in the A/E industry required.
