Atkins is looking for an experienced Chartered Civil Engineer to be a Team Leader in our growing Pavement Consultancy team within the Digital Asset Management (DAM) Practice. The role will require the successful applicant to be responsible for the technical and managerial delivery of pavement engineering projects. Therefore, proven technical expertise, leadership and people management skills will be required.
The position requires credibility, competence and technical excellence as it will be a role working closely with industry leading clients, stakeholders and will necessitate the development, approval and implementation of robust design solutions through collaborative working, trust and proactive management of client demands.
Responsibilities
- Project management and technical delivery of a variety of consultancy projects and work packages in the field of pavement engineering;
- Act as a technical lead for strategic projects including the development of the design strategy and pavement options to suit varying budgetary scenarios for both new construction and maintenance works;
- Ensuring project deliverables are prepared on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards;
- Enhancing client and industry relationships with both public and private stakeholders;
- Promote pavement and asset management within Atkins;
- Developing the talent within the team through coaching, mentoring and supporting their technical career development aspirations;
- Complying with and championing company processes and policies, and ensuring adherence to safety, welfare, quality and environmental requirements.
- Grow the existing team through proactive recruitment, identifying needed skills and sustaining a strong pipeline of work to enable this
Requirements
- You’ll have a Degree in Civil Engineering, or similar disciplines, and some of the following (depending on level of experience):
- Chartered or close to chartered of a relevant professional institution or equivalent;
- Certified Pavement Engineer with technical expertise of pavement design principles;
- Proven track record of applying UK and/or international standards for the design of pavements for highway, airfield, port or other applications;
- Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and practices for new construction and maintenance works;
- Team player with excellent people management skills and experience of leading teams to deliver complex engineering projects;
- A high expectation of performance for themselves and those they lead;
- Strong communication skills with regards to report writing, presentations and face to face situations (all in respect of clients and team members);
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels;
- A high level of personal initiative, vision and motivation.
