Rise to the challenge. Join us as a Management Information Consultant within the PMO Services and Solutions Practice within the Aerospace and Defence Market that forms part of ADS&T. We deliver single and multi-disciplinary engineering and business change projects across all sectors of the market. Our strength is in the scale, depth and diversity of our offering. We support our clients throughout the equipment life cycle, from research and technical demonstration programmes, to supporting industry with deployed platforms.

Atkins is a member of the Aurora Consortium that is delivering engineering services to the MOD as the Engineering Delivery Partner (EDP). This has provided a step change in growth in delivering services to Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S).

We are looking for an experienced Management Information and SSRO Compliance Manager to join the team based in our Bristol office. 

Your purpose

You'll be providing expert advice and guidance on compliance with regulations, supporting in developing and reviewing bids from a financial perspective, reporting both internal and externally.

Activities include:

  • Developing management information tools and facilitating business improvement and training

  • Development and maintenance of cost tracker template to enable action under SSRO regulations

  • Maintain the standardised approach to EDP project costing and forecasting in collaboration with the EDP PMO team to facilitate the adoption of best practice which may be utilised by the wider business as required

  • Create and maintain EDP Dashboard and reporting in alongside the EDP PMO team to develop a toolkit to enable the measurement and control of projects and facilitate future forecasting of revenue, margin and order intake.  

  • Create and maintain tool kits which will facilitate a bottom up approach to budget and forecasting

  • Support EDP forecasting and budgeting through the provision and production of timely Management Information.

  • Assist EDP PMO team in the review and management of EDP (and other areas as required) Capability and project performance

  • Facilitate knowledge surgeries as needed on SSRO, Finance and Forecasting best practice

  • Support ADS&T PCO lead in developing and socialising standardised cost tracker

  • Bid modelling including production and review

  • Analysis and interpretation of all management data/information across the EDP Framework and its associated projects

What you can bring

You will bring well-developed commercial knowledge and business understanding
 with strong accounting skills & knowledge and an accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).

A knowledge of single source regulations and reporting requirements is essential, and knowledge of finance processes, standards and systems will be advantageous.

Knowledge and practical experience of:

  • Business evaluation and improvement  

  • Project costing and forecasting  

  • Order Intake, Revenue and Margin forecasting  

  • Producing staffing and resourcing plans  

  • Visualisation of management information experience using tools such as Excel, PowerBI  

We are looking for someone with strong people skills who is:

  • Comfortable in interacting with operational and financial staff and management at all levels of seniority.

  • A team player who works cooperatively with others providing help where required

  • A confident communicator with high emotional intelligence who can build trusted relationships at all levels and listens and questions effectively with concise verbal and written communication.

  • Accomplished in exceeding stakeholder aspirations meeting targets and overcoming challenges

  • Energetic and determined with the ability to work to tight timescales in a KPI driven environment

  • Able to show initiative with the ability to analyse data and situations, break down work into key tasks and activities. Having attention to detail whilst working at tactical and strategic levels

  • Driven to continually develop new skills in themselves and others through continuous professional development and other means

  • An advocate and ambassador for our wider business embracing and upholding Atkins values of Safety, ethics and integrity with high professional standards at all times
