Due to continued growth in the workload of our successful Water business, we are seeking to recruit a Principal Asset Information Analyst.  The successful candidates will initially join a site-based team of asset management professionals, engineers, modellers, GIS specialists and technicians and play a key role in delivering a major Framework for a key client.

Overview of the role: 

  • Overarching Asset Information technical lead, providing technical input to support development of the Asset Information Strategy, objectives and standards, including the asset information framework, information hierarchy and asset classifications.
  • Support the delivery of the Asset Information strategy by supporting the definition and successful delivery of a series of projects and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Asset Information Senior Analysts and to the wider Asset Information team in its role of owning and managing the company’s asset information, ensuring its completeness and accuracy.
  • Production of standard reports and data visualisation to enable the company to make informed decisions, this includes reports to the Regulators and asset information related KPI’s.
  • Working closely with Asset Performance to define data gaps that are hindering asset performance analysis, define data improvement projects and oversee delivery.
  • Manage the planned maintenance framework including supporting the development of new maintenance routines as required by the Asset strategy.

Expected requirements:

  • The post holder is required to have previous experience in an asset information intensive industry and have a strong understanding of corporate asset information systems.
  • Hold or be working towards chartered status with the Institute of Asset Management or a similar institution.
  • Able to understand the principles of planned maintenance and support the development of new maintenance routines as required for the asset strategy.
  • They need to be able to demonstrate experience of data analysis, data quality management and data improvement, as well as data visualisation.
  • The post holder will have excellent communication skills and should have proven experience in communicating complex analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to a senior level both internal and external (Regulatory bodies).
  • They will also be adept at writing complex reports.

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of the Asset Information Strategy, including the programming and delivery of a portfolio of projects to deliver the Strategy.
  • Providing an overarching technical lead to the Asset Information Team.
  • Providing guidance on the structuring of asset information in a defined framework, hierarchy and appropriate classifications.
  • Liaising with other external bodies to ensure the Asset Information Strategy appropriately encompasses the forefront of new technology and approaches to Asset Information.
  • Working with key teams (e.g. IS, Developer services, Operations and Engineering) to define data and information requirements for system and tool improvements.
  • Encouraging intelligent and correct use of asset information systems across both the team and the wider business through proactive engagement of users.
  • Working with Asset Performance to assess data completeness and accuracy and supporting the definition and delivery of improvement projects.
  • Ensuring governance and supporting development of the long-term direction of the Planned Maintenance Framework.
  • Developing standard reports and visualisation layers for the business to improve decision making and reporting including reports for senior management, Ofwat and other Regulatory bodies as requested.
  • Reviewing the data and asset information processes for issues and suggesting improvements, as required. Including development of asset information standard documentation / codes of practice.
  • Providing guidance to ensure asset information activities are compliant with PAS 55, and moving to ISO55000, and lead on annual assessment for the Assets Directorate.
