Principal Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

Will provide leadership in all mechanical engineering activities in; olefins, polyolefins, olefins cracking, aromatics, ethyl benzene, styrene and other petrochemical sectors.  This position has lead supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities:

• Work on mid to large size engineering projects with minimum supervision.
• Able to lead a team of Mechanical Engineers as a Lead Engineer and/or Engineer of record.
• Define scope of work, prepare estimate (all classes from conceptual to detailed) and schedule for mechanical engineering portion of work in a project.
• Work in coordination with other discipline leads to ensure effective quality product.
• Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.
• Develop and recommend improvements in engineering and design standards to lower cost and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.
• Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.
• Resolve project issues and problems and provide technical guidance to co-workers.
• Provide input to the Department Manager during the preparation of the performance evaluation of the Mechanical Engineers assigned to their project.
• Work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Multiple office project execution.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 20+ years O&G industry experience with a minimum of 10 years working as a Lead required.
• Petrochemical, Polyethylene or related experience and US Gulf Coast project experience is required.
• P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) preferred.
• Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to ASME BPVC, API standards, PIP standards, ASME B31.3 and B31.8 and commonly used mechanical engineering software. 
• Working knowledge of equipment inspection and testing, vessels, pipe, rotating equipment, material handling equipment.
• Understanding of piping specifications.
• Knowledge of Compress, Caesar II, NozzlePro and HTRI.
