  1. Epsom
R-045997

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

If you are a Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) engineer with experience within the nuclear industry, then we are waiting for you to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t need to be told what to do next and likes nothing better than solving challenging goals and puzzles. Known for your high energy, you are a natural motivator with a demonstrable aptitude for safety and innovative thinking. You thrive on being busy and feeling a sense of achievement at the end of each day.  You find assessing risk for nuclear facilities intriguing and you are always the first liaising with clients due to your exceptional communication skills. With a nurturing yet commercial approach to ideas generation, proposition development and delivery, you clearly want to deliver - for yourself, for your organisation and for your client. You enjoy approaching things in different ways to find the best possible fit – you love making improvements and consider different approaches, trying to find the best approach to fit whatever is the current context.  As soon as you’re presented with a problem, you are focused on how to resolve it, whatever it might be.
However, you don't just tackle these things alone. You like to engage with others and are stimulated by encouraging others to develop and grow. You relish in explaining complex ideas, helping people to 'get it', and then watch them go on and achieve more.

Building and developing relationships is a key part of who you are. Overall, you get satisfaction from building relationships, with clients and with colleagues, valuing emotional capital. You enjoy getting to know people and working out how you can have a positive impact on them — whether that's delivering something that a client needs or helping someone to progress within the organization

What you will be doing

In this role you will be eager to play an effective role in the design and operation of nuclear reactors and other nuclear facilities to optimise designs and reduce risks. You are a candidate driven by innovative and practical thinking and can provide consultancy advice to Clients.

As a PSA engineer within our growing Nuclear Safety Analysis discipline, you will work on consultancy projects for a range of clients in the nuclear industry. You will be keen to develop and deliver PSA models, analyse and interpret results, support critical decision-making in the design and operation of facilities and report outcomes through the production of high-quality technical reports. In the role you will be a key individual supporting clients in managing their internal and external stakeholders, including the Regulator.

You will be expected to contribute to and learn from the wider Nuclear Safety community within Atkins, taking advantage of the global expertise we have across a range of engineering disciplines.

Other key aspects of the role will include mentoring others in a technical capacity, assisting in the production of bids and proposals, and implementing and contributing to safety initiatives. You will also liaise with operators, designers and clients, building a strong relationship with them.

Does this sound like you? If this role has excited, you then we’d be delighted for you to apply.
