Process Engineer (Aberdeen Process & Facilities)

The Team

Joining our Oil & Gas Engineering & Consulting business in Aberdeen, you’ll be in a motivated team of 20 process engineers and work on a variety of projects, involved in the analysis, assessment, optioneering and design of process systems, ranging from single discipline studies to large multidiscipline projects. Working closely with our clients, you’ll be consulting with them to develop a full understanding of their project requirements, delivering cost effective and innovative solutions. 

The Role

We are looking for a Process Engineer to work on predominately early stage process engineering activities (i.e. appraise, select, troubleshooting) as well as operations and troubleshooting, to provide practical solutions to our clients’ challenges. 
As a trusted member of the team, you will be the main engineer on a study, or main process engineer in a multidiscipline team, delivering work under the supervision of one of our lead engineers. You will also present your work to clients through reports and presentations.

Our average project timescale is 8 weeks – so you’ll be involved in a large variety of work, from optimisation studies and concept development to process safety studies and offshore commissioning. Your work will generally include running process simulations, preparing Process Flow Schemes with mass balances and equipment sizes, and preparing reports and presentations. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of high quality deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards and internal procedures.

The Person

With excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, you will be able to build relationships effectively and work with teams across disciplines and locations. You are comfortable and adaptable to working in new and changing environments. You are organised and self-motivated, with a good attention to detail, keen to deliver the best solution for the client within the scope and budget available.

You have a background in Oil & Gas process engineering with the following qualifications and most of the experience:
 

  • Engineering degree, honours or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Working towards or achieved Chartered Engineer status with the Institute of Chemical Engineers or equivalent;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Background in the oil and gas industry, with some of this in a multi-discipline design environment
  • Experience in feasibility, concept selection and front-end engineering studies 
  • Experience using HYSYS/Unisim, performing standard process engineering calculations and developing technical reports
  • Project engineering skills to ensure studies and projects are delivered within agreed budgets and schedules
  • Understanding of relevant safety and environmental industry regulations. Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (American Petroleum Institute, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, Institute of Petroleum, British Standards etc.).
