Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Denver, CO Transportation & Project Controls Group as a Project Controls Specialist.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Responsible for assisting the Project Controls Manager with various tasks including contract/change management, budget and cost estimating, risk identification and mitigation, schedule review, quality auditing, and document control management. Position requires collocation with CDOT at the Central 70 project office.

JOB DUTIES

Monitor and status project budget including reporting to Project leadership and stakeholders on a regular basis.
Review contractor schedules and time impact analysis with basic understanding of scheduling concepts (float, delay, logic, durations, predecessors/successors, calendars, resources, and constraints)
Manage change process including drafting change notices, preparing cost estimates, negotiating with contractors, and drafting contract language.
Manage conformed contract documents procedure including incorporating change orders.
Review of technical documentation including engineering, architectural and construction documents, vendor submittals, shop drawings, design review records, management plans, special studies, etc.
Technical report writing.
Performs quality oversight audits on the contractor’s management plans to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
Identify, log, and track to resolution project risks.
Assist with developing mitigation strategies for project risks and report status to Project leadership on regular basis.
Assists project team with development of all monthly and quarterly status reports.
Provides input for the development of project procedures and analyzes project-related data.
Assists with Document Control Management in Aconex, as needed.
May design processes to enhance work flow.
Multi-tasking / juggling between different tasks as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline with ten years relevant experience; nine years experience required with Master's degree; or twelve years experience in project control or cost analysis with an Associates Degree.
Experience with cost estimating preferred.
Engineering, architectural, and construction documents (i.e., maps, drawings, technical specifications, etc.) experience preferred.
Experience with highway design/construction project terms a plus.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Exceptional mathematical, communications, analytical, computer, and organizational skills.
Must exhibit professional behaviors and appearance as well as be aware of importance of teamwork within the assigned project team.
Ability to read, write, reason, analyze, evaluate, problem solve, perform mathematical calculations and allocate resources as appropriate.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

Certification may be required in areas applicable to work assignments and as required by clients.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience in the following software: Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SharePoint, ProjectWise, Aconex, Bluebeam.
