The Team

Atkins has been involved in the design, assessment and modification of over 1000 oil and gas installations around the world and are the operator’s ‘go to’ company for difficult challenges from life extension to innovative new designs. Based in our Aberdeen office, you’ll support a multidiscipline team on a large variety of projects, from optimisation studies and concept development to process safety studies and offshore commissioning.

The Role

Project delivery is the core of our business. We are looking for a project engineer to coordinate our multi-discipline teams to deliver our projects within budget, while meeting and exceeding the expectations of our clients. You will develop your project management skills across project controls, commercial management and technical delivery, positioning yourself as a future leader within our business.

 

Responsibilities

o    Work with the technical lead to ensure delivery of projects to agreed brief, scope and budgets.

o    Monitoring and reporting performance against schedule, technical quality, financial and other Key Performance Indicators.

o    Establishing project documentation and schedules and ensuring that there is a common understanding across the team and that the team itself is appropriately resourced.

o    Motivating, guiding, managing communications and ensuring clear responsibilities within the project team.

o    Managing client and stakeholder relationships.

o    Managing financial, commercial and risk management from project inception through to completion on projects including implementation of robust change control processes.

o    Support to bidding for new work may also be a key part of the role, as appropriate.

The Person

With excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, you will be able to positively and proactively build relationships and collaborate effectively with the project team and our clients, and to manage delivery under tight deadlines.

You are organised, able to prioritise under pressure and take personal responsibility in achieving your best and the best for our clients. You are comfortable and adaptable to working in new and changing environments and working as part of a virtual team with colleagues in remote offices. You are able to tailor the way you operate to best suit that particular project team.

 

You have good attention to detail, anticipate and respond to potential problems, and use your own initiative to improve ways of working.   

 

Other key requirements include:

o    Keen interest in project management and proven success in delivering projects against time and budget.

o    Experience of oil and gas engineering studies.

o    Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in chemical, mechanical, structural, civil, naval architecture or equivalent discipline similar engineering discipline. 

o    Chartered status (or working towards) is considered advantageous.

o    Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and mature approach to work. 

o    Willingness to develop wider skills and flexibility to work on variety of projects.
