SNC-Lavalin is searching for a Project Engineer to join our growing team of professionals in our Roads & Highways group within the Infrastructure Engineering business unit at our Toronto Office.

This exciting opportunity will provide you with the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging highway engineering projects for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, 407 ETR and municipalities, as well as P3 projects in the transit expansion sector.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in preliminary and detailed design activities for road and highway projects, including grading, drainage, traffic staging, pavement marking and signage, and underground utilities
  • Coordinating the activities of engineering and design groups
  • Assuring compliance with project schedule, budget and procedures
  • Assuring the delivery of quality products to clients
  • Liaising and coordinating with clients, stakeholders and sub-consultants
  • Assigning and reviewing work of subordinate staff
  • Reviewing and approving project technical documentation, including drawings and specifications
  • Establishing and maintaining client contacts on technical and project administration matters
  • Preparing proposals and participating in business developments
  • Analyzing problems and determining critical factors for investigation
  • Organizing and conducting investigations and analyses
  • Providing expert advice on design processes and/or construction methods
  • Providing technical guidance to subordinate staff and co-workers
  • Being accountable for unit deliverables

Requirements

  • Must have degree in engineering
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience in highway design in a consultant environment
  • Strong organizational skill and proficiency in both oral and written communication in English.
  • Self-starters, able to work with minimal direction and ability to work in an interactive team atmosphere
  • Familiar with the TAC and Ministry of Transportation Ontario Manuals, design standards and guidelines
  • Experienced in project management, report and proposal writing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
    Strong working knowledge in AutoCAD, MicroStation, CPS, HiCo, InRoads, Civil 3D and other design software
  • Established working relationship with various clients such as Ministry of Transportation and municipalities
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
