The Role:

Working within Nuclear and Power, Power New Build group, you will be an integral part of delivering exciting large nuclear new build projects such as Hinkley Point C or Sizewell C Power Stations.

You’ll be managing engineering or construction tasks for and on behalf of our clients, or taking responsibility for delivering packages of work. You’ll enjoy working with others, and are prepared to deliver projects at client sites (e.g. Bristol, Barnwood or Somerset) through site-based secondments and/ or through regular site visits during key delivery phases.

The group is growing strongly and there are opportunities to take on line management responsibilities from the start, and for you to develop your capabilities and career, and to support others in their career decisions.

The Person:

You have experience of being involved in either engineering or construction projects, delivering to time, cost, quality and safety, particularly in the detailed design and construction phases, and are able to demonstrate your application of project engineering skills, across projects with various technical challenges.

You are a fantastic communicator and are able to integrate quickly into diverse multi-disciplinary teams. You have an ability to self-motivate, getting the best out of other team members and dealing with conflict, in conjunction with a strong delivery culture.

You are an organiser, but are also adaptable, you enjoy re-arranging resources and adapting plans to meet the changing demands of new situations. You have a ‘can-do’ approach, are keen to learn and are proven in turning your hand to new challenges and can demonstrate awareness of your own limitations and are not afraid to ask questions.

In addition to having strong technical, organisational and communication skills, you’ll also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A degree in a related engineering-based discipline (e.g. civil /mechanical/ process / EC&I).
  • Experience of project engineering and working in teams.
  • A strong quality, safety, security and environment focus.
  • An appropriate level of relevant industrial experience- in the absence of power or nuclear industry specific experience, we would require experience of work associated with a highly regulated industry (e.g. Oil and Gas, Chemicals, large-scale infrastructure).
  • Willing to challenge and be challenged to uphold the highest standards of safety and construction assurance.

You may also demonstrate a selection of the following desirable requirements:

  • Direct, relevant Nuclear sector experience
  • Experience of site-based operations, construction or commissioning
  • Knowledge of safely on construction sites, including risk assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant international and national legislation and regulatory philosophies, practice, requirements and guidance for nuclear licensed sites, including the importance of construction quality assurance.
  • Commercial awareness including construction contract type, terms and conditions.
