TransitNEXT is a wholly owned subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin. As the sole proponent in the TransitNEXT team, SNC-Lavalin is awarded the design, build, finance and maintenance of the new extension, and will also assume responsibility for the long-term maintenance of the existing Trillium Line.

Join TransitNEXT and become part of The Trillium Line Extension project, expanding and enhancing transit services in Ottawa.

As part of the Trillium project based in Ottawa, we are looking for a qualified Quality Coordinator – Systems.  The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of Systems being procured and installed on the Trillium Line South Extension project. Systems include, but are not limited to:

  • Communications Transmission System

  • Telephone and Intercom System

  • Voice and Data Radio System

  • Fare Collection System

  • Signaling and Train Control System

  • CCTV System

  • SCADA System

  • Cellular System

  • Intrusion Access Control System

  • Public Address System

  • Public Information Displays System

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Preparing for and participating in the Quality kick-off meeting of Systems subcontractors and vendors

  • Reviewing internal TNext and external subcontractor/vendor documents and work products. These can include:

    • Systems specifications

    • Systems design documents

    • Systems drawings

    • Quality Plans and Quality Procedures

    • Testing Plans and Testing Procedures

    • Completed checklists (e.g., Inspection and Test Plan (ITP))

    • Product data sheets and material safety data sheets

    • Test reports, including Factoring Acceptance Testing (FAT) reports, Post-Installation Check-out (PICO) reports, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) reports and Site Integration Testing (SIT) reports

  • Performing incoming inspections of Systems materials and equipment and preparing Material Receiving Inspection reports. Inspections consist of:

    • Verification of quantities received against purchase orders

    • Ensuring received materials are the ones approved by the project Engineers of Record for use on the project

    • Taking pictures of the received materials and equipment

    • Recording serial numbers where applicable

    • Inspecting the materials for damage, missing parts/components, and cleanliness where appropriate

    • Documenting all findings and ensuring findings are correctly addressed in a timely manner

  • Performing on-site inspections of the delivery, proper storage, and installation of the various Systems during the construction phase of the project

  • Raising Site Issues when appropriate and following-up on their closure

  • Preparing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when necessary and following-up on their closure

  • Witnessing Systems testing which can include any or all the following:

    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) performed by the subcontractor/vendor at their site

    • Post-Installation Check-Out (PICO)

    • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) performed by subcontractors/vendors on the job site

    • Site Integration Testing (SIT) performed by the TNext team on the job site

  • Preparing, conducting, and reporting on external Quality audits of the subcontractors/vendors

  • Preparing, conducting, and reporting on internal Quality audits of the TNext project team (focusing on Systems-related activities)

  • Conducting physical and functional configuration audits to ensure all project requirements are being met by the installed Systems

  • Participating in Quality team status meetings and reporting on Systems Quality activities

  • Participating in multi-disciplinary status meetings and reporting on Systems Quality activities

What will you contribute?

  • Advanced working knowledge of ISO 9001and construction standards specifications in Ontario.

  • Post-secondary education in construction, engineering or technician and significant quality control and assurance experience or an equivalent combination of experience and technical training.

  • Strong ability to work with field engineers within the organization.

  • Teamwork skills and strong ability to get information and interpret from very different sources.

  • Effective communicator, orally and in writing

  • Keen negotiator in matters related to Quality and is able to get your point across clearly and precisely.
