The Atkins Returners Programme is back for 2021

At Atkins we celebrate diversity and have created an environment in which our people, drawn from a range of backgrounds and expertise, are able to achieve high standards of integrity and ethics in the workplace.  As part of this diversity, we are currently recruiting talented candidates through our Returners Programme, aimed at experienced professionals with a track record of delivery as Human Factors consultants who now wish to return to work after an extended career break of typically 2 years more, who are either economically inactive or now working in lower paid, temporary or part-time roles.  Our 6-month Returners programme will help you to ease back into work in a safe and structured manner and help you to rebuild your professional Human Factors career from relevant previous expertise and experiences. 

Atkins develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development courses that are designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talent, so rather than provide a conventionally structured, one-size-fits-all approach to relaunch your career, you will be given the opportunity to gain support from coaching, your line manager, project or subject mentor, to participate in training courses in accordance with your  development plan and to build your expertise whilst working projects within our client-embedded teams.

Your purpose:

As a Human Factors Consultant at Atkins, you'll enjoy a vast range of project opportunities to keep you progressing, working in supportive, multi-disciplinary teams across a range of industries.  In our Human Factors team, we work across diverse teams. With your expertise in the mix, together, we'll deliver what's better and safer for people.

What you can bring?

• Previous experience of applying Human Reliability Assessment methods and techniques such as task and error analysis, Human Reliability Assessment and the substantiation of Human Based Safety Claims.
• A degree or post graduate qualification in Human Factors or a related discipline, such as psychology, engineering, or industrial design.
• Experience of delivering Human Factors work packages.
• Experience of planning and applying Human Factors Integration (HFI) and Human Factors processes, standards and techniques.
• Excellent client facing skills.
• Experience in and knowledge of the following areas would be useful but not essential, procedures analysis, safety analysis, human performance measurements, workstation and operations room design.
• Some travel to client sites may be required.
