The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is an exciting and growing team, eager to grasp modern systems, processes and concepts, within the regulatory framework that we are required to work.

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join us and lead the testing management of major and complex projects.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment.

Do you have good organisation skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels?

Reporting to the Southern Testing and Commissioning Engineer, the work is mainly site based on projects and as such there may be a requirement to lodge away for extended periods of time and to work unsocial hours. You must hold a full UK driving Licence.

Requirement

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and organised with the ability to work in a team, to act as an administrative focus within the Testing and Commissioning Practice
  • Able to work under own initiative within the guidelines provided, and multitask under pressure
  • Ideally at least a GCSE education or equivalent with a minimum of four grade C’s or above in subjects including Mathematics and English.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment.
  • A good working knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel is essential, as is the ability to be highly organised and be reactive to the needs of the team.
  • There is a requirement for travel and working away from home at times, and to work unsociable hours.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and to interface closely with the Practice Manager, as well as the TIC’s to ensure best allocation of resources across the business.
  • High level of confidence and excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Key administrator in setting up and maintaining all staff information within Fatigue 360 software.
  • Fatigue 360 software administrator – ensuring that Rosters across the Practice are aligned with project requirements for the department.
  • Ensure that Fatigue and Risk is monitored across the Practice using the Fatigue 360 software and liaise with staff and TIC’s to action accordingly.
  • Use of Fatigue 360 for reports to be issued to staff in line with T&C’s (Rosters), and as and when required by Managers / Testers in Charge.
  • Allocation of resources to achieve where possible staff being productive during their rostered shifts.
  • Identify requirements and organise accommodation and travel and advise on arrangements made.
  • Assist the Practice Manager as and when required.

Training

  • Atkins develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development activities designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talents.  These are reviewed with individuals through an annual appraisal process.  We actively support staff in achieving corporate membership of relevant institutions.
