Safety Adviser

We are looking for someone to support the Health and Safety Manager in delivering and creating a safe working environment. The successful candidate will be a visible champion for H&S and will be engaging with Operatives and Managers; have good interpersonal skills, lead by example, be a good communicator & reliable; assist the Health & Safety Manager in delivering Health & Safety to the Project Teams within the Atkins Nuclear Fuel Cycle Business (NFC); Oversee the implementation of Organisational Standards relating to H&S at a local level providing feedback to the H&S Manager on any areas of improvement or potential conflict with business requirements; Manage own diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule and conduct inspections and H&S conversations with site & office based teams; deliver an advisory service to the Project delivery teams for Health and Safety (H&S); liaise with projects to facilitate planning of work programs and assist in their on-going delivery; drive continual improvement of H&S; undertake internal H&S audits, inspections and assessments on projects and offices, including the work carried out by sub-contractors as per the approved schedule and as required by developing work scope; assist with the annual review of H&S policies, procedures and other documentation as appropriate; prepare specific or topical H&S reports and investigations as required; liaison with stakeholders, the Client Safety and Project teams: delivery of in-house H&S Training that includes Human Performance Training; any other duties as reasonably required by the NFC Business.

The successful candidate must be proactive, pragmatic and flexible in their approach to the role as it will require working on the Clients’ Site, In the Office at Westlakes and may be required to travel Nationally to other NFC Offices.

Essential:

• Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
• IOSH Managing Safely – preferred but Training can be provided for the successful candidate.
• A current CSCS Card or equivalent.
• Clean, full driving license.

Desirable:

• Prior site-based construction experience.
• Experience of working on a Joint Venture.
• Utilise suite of Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms at an intermediate level to review data, identify themes and prepare representative graphs .
• Supervisory Management or Leadership qualification (NEBSM, NVQ 3 or above).
